RADIO ULSTER

Tim Wareing appeared on Radio Ulster's Saturday Magazine programme with Kim Lanaghan.  They talked about Tim Wareing's first published book, 'Toddler Soccer - The Essential Guide'.

The book was published & released at the start of March.  It features the ToddlerSoccer.Org award winning programme of how to set up the games & have fun with your toddler in the garden.

The book is ideal if you have toddlers or if you are a teacher or coach that works with children of this age.  Early exposure to sport not only improves technical ability but will assist in developing your toddlers listening skills, communication, co-ordination, numbers & colours right through to working as a team & mixing with other children.

We hope to bring a link so you can listen to Tim's interview with Kim on Radio Ulster.

Tim would like to extend his thanks to his publisher, Alexa & Lisa from 'The Book Refinery'.

TODDLER SOCCER - THE ESSENTIAL GUIDE BOOK

Tim Wareing has released his first book on Toddler Soccer.  He received a publishing deal from 'The Book Refinery' & copies went on sale today!  You can order online from the Club Shop.  The book will also be available from Amazon!

Overview of Toddler Soccer - The Essential Guide...

The Government recommends that children should be getting at least an hour of activity each day.  In recent studies only as little as 3% of boys & 2% of girls were achieving this!  Experts have already predicted that by as early as next year 50% of children will be overweight unless they get active.  Therefore, it is essential that children learn the importance of living an active, healthy lifestyle from an early age.

As parents or coaches, we can offer this through encouraging children to take part in sport at an early age.  'Toddler Soccer - The Essential Guide' not only introduces toddlers to play soccer but it encourages them in an easy and fun way.

This revolutionary book captures their imagination and acts as a step-by-step session guide to various games and moves, which get your child active and achieve that critical hour of activity the Government suggests - whether that be in the back garden, the local park, or as a coach or teacher.

This book has been designed especially so that each session is simple to follow, yet captures the imagination of young children and it also sets them up with the basic soccer moves, helping them with hand-eye co-ordination, develops their motor skills, it also helps them with team work, all whilst being a fun and exciting experience.

Let's get our children fit and active, use this book to get your kids off the sofa, and get them investing in a healthy lifestyle.  There isn't a better, easier and more fun way than 'Toddler Soccer - The Essential Guide'!

Order your copy now!  Simply follow this link.  Available in book or e-book.  For more details contact Tim Wareing, 077 4012 0788 or by email.

ZOE SALMON KICK STARTS 2010 FOR TODDLER SOCCER!

Director & Head Coach of ToddlerSoccer & Mini Soccer, Tim Wareing, received a very kind & heart warming letter from Zoe Salmon to show her support for the fantastic time & effort Tim spends setting up & coaching venues that are supplied to kids throughout Northern Ireland.  Tim's goal is to have centres in every major town across the province to encourage children to keep fit, stay healthy & most of all have plenty of fun in the process.

Our very own Bangor Beauty Zoe is unstoppable these days with her busy schedule on the hot new talk show 'Angela & friends' after her fantastic performance on Dancing on Ice she is popping up everywhere!

Tim is overjoyed to have Zoe's support, he pours his heart into Toddler Soccer & Mini Soccer working round the clock to come up with new & innovative ideas to get kids to sign up & make new friends.  Toddler Soccer is extremely unique as its the first of it's kind in Northern Ireland.  Teaching children as young as 2.5 years hand eye co-ordination & developing their motor skills.  They can progress into Mini Soccer already having been taught basic & energetic football skills & drills.

Toddler & Mini Soccer has attracted the attention of major European Football Clubs including PSV Eindhoven & Dutch Clubs.  In fact the football Masters themselves have taken the time out to take a trip to Northern Ireland to find out more about this outstanding setup & even run special football clinics for the kids.  Another rewarding & proud moment for Tim was when Toddler Soccer was featured on GMTV.

Each child that takes part in any of the TW Sports Centres are treated as individuals & also to be part of a team, it is a pleasure to watch the children move up from Toddler to Mini Soccer & see the difference these sessions make to their confidence & physical ability.  Everything from the care of the kids to fun on the website is very carefully thought out, always with the children's needs top of the list.

All Toddler Soccer & TW Sports Mini Soccer coaches are CRB checked & trained in First Aid.  Tim supplies a new & exciting programme for all centres on a 6 weekly basis so that the kids are assured to be coached to a very high standard & the parents are ensured their children enjoy their session in a safe and organised environment.

To have the support from top end football clubs, GMTV & Now Zoe Salmon - TW Sports has a very exciting & great year ahead of them.

STAFF TRAINING

The delivery of our programme is the most important thing to us, after your child of course!  Our staff receive weekly emails detailing updates & session plans.  Prior to this we meet once every six weeks ahead of each new term to run through the games.

Although what is different is that we operate staff role plays.  During this everyone has to behave like a 3 year old apart from when they deliver the session.  Everyone receives an opportunity to deliver a session in their own style.

This allows our staff to be creative & have freedom to stamp their own personality into their session.  This also allows other members to keep their sessions fresh & add new ideas.

I have always threatened to have our staff training filmed but never did.  Well, that is until now!  You can watch us in action & see how well our staff can adapt & become three year olds!

Simply follow this link!  You will see how much time & effort is required to make sure your toddler has a ball at Toddler Soccer!  You will also see how much fun our staff have at training & at the classes!

LITTLE MESSI

I hope that you have visited our You Tube Channel?  You can subscribe so that you will be the first to see new videos being added.  Already we have videos on my background, PSV Eindhoven, Benfica & of course preview of our Toddler Soccer & Mini Soccer programmes.  We will soon release videos of our staff training days, cross bar challenge & some footage of 1-on-1 coaching that I conduct.  Simply click on the You Tube logo at the top of our home page!

While searching through You Tube I came across a video titled 'Little Messi'.  What a joy to watch.  It proves that early exposure to a ball really does assist in long term development!  I am sure all parents that have attended / continue to attend our Toddler Soccer programme realise this.

Little Hassan was introduced to the ball by his dad, who is a coach in New York, from the age of 2.  During the winter he would teach his son the basic technique of ball familiarisation in the local gym & rackets club.  Many a passer-by would stop in disbelief to watch the confidence & great touches that little Hassan performed with the ball.

Hassan is about to turn 7 but from watching the video it shows the real advantages of early exposure with the ball!  Sit back & enjoy the new 'Little Messi'!  Simply click here.

STORMONT

Tim Wareing attended the SkillsActive 5th Anniversary Event at Stormont Parliament Buildings.  It was hosted by Sir Reg Empey, MLA, Minister for Employment & Learning.

SkillsActive is the sector skills council for the active leisure & learning industry.  SkillsActive is based throughout Northern Ireland, England, Scotland & Wales.

It is a programme that we are happy to get involved in like the involvement we have with the Princes Trust.  Although we have forced limitations thanks to some of the Councils around Northern Ireland.

A number of Council's will not allow our Award Winning programme to operate in their Leisure Centres, or charge over £100 per week hire for ONE 45 minute slot!  In the worst economy for over 100 years you would think we would receive support from the so called powers that be.

During July & August we offered a number of positions for free lance coaches.  We had over 100 applications.  This ranged from experienced coaches right down to school leavers & the un-employed.  We catered positions for all.  Although due to the fact that Belfast City Council do not support our programme (by 'support' we mean accept a slot in one of many Leisure Centres that are currently losing money) it resulted in less positions being made available as there was not the hours available.

The SkillsActive event was set in one of Northern Ireland's most famous landmarks.  A number of high profile speakers & guests were invited along.  Although apart from Cathy Mullan, (Health Promotion Commissioner, Public Health Agency) it was just a glorified thank you function.  The kind involving a speech, thank you, photo for the paper, done.  Cathy spoke about today's children not being able to play like we as parents enjoyed growing up.  The huge problem of child obesity - A NUMBER OF PARENTS WILL OUTLIVE THEIR CHILDREN!  Finally touching on the mental health problems that will face a huge percentage of our children in the next 20 years.

These are 3 topics that you will find we reported on if you search the archived news in TrainingSoccer.Org over the past year.

But while so many speakers concentrated on the big 'love in' Cathy actually spoke about facts that there is no way of avoiding.  It is just a shame that the Council's from the country in Europe with the highest death rate from heart disease will not support a programme that brings toddlers from 2.5 along with their parents to football & the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.

Unfortunately no one was around to speak to about the above.  Perhaps if a camera was about they would have happily 'staged' a conversation to get that all important picture in the press of, 'I care.'

Advantage Young Business Award Winner 2009

Thirty year old Tim Wareing of Castlereagh based TWSports.Org Mini Soccer Centres, has been recognised by Advantage NI and Invest Northern Ireland for being amongst the most successful and inspirational young entrepreneurs in the Castlereagh area.  Funded by Invest NI, Advantage NI celebrates the spirit of enterprise that is alive and kicking in young people aged 16-30.

TWSports offers children the opportunity to play football in a pressure free environment, and welcomes children from as young as two to sixteen to join in.  The business has been extended to reach children and coaches around the world by utilising their web based products.

Football has always been a passion and hobby for Tim Wareing.  Though it was after he completed his football qualifications and observed the lack of youth development in sport and football that he decided to put all his interests and energy into starting up his own business.

Tim’s business has a strong customer base and he believes this is down to the fact that parents know that their children will meet new friends, have fun and develop their skills with highly qualified coaches at an affordable price.  This Easter will be an exciting time for the soccer centre as TWSports welcomes Martien Pennings of Dutch side PSV Eindhoven to deliver a coaching clinic for Northern Ireland coaches and children.

Sharon Polson of Invest NI’s Entrepreneurship Development Team, said: “By supporting initiatives which encourage our young entrepreneurs to further develop their ideas and grow their businesses, we can help increase the number and quality of locally-owned businesses, create wealth and strengthen the Northern Ireland economy.

“Many local young people have started successful businesses in recent years. These entrepreneurs are role models and it is important that they are recognised for their achievements.”

As TWSports goes from strength to strength Tim is still not content with stopping here, as he sets his sights high for the future of his business - just as any entrepreneur would!    He intends to continue the high standards he has set for child and coach development in Northern Ireland but he also aims to franchise his product further afield.  He would even one day love to own his own indoor arena.  With ambition like this it is easy to see why TWSports has been awarded an Advantage Young Business Award.

If like Tim, you are under thirty one and are running your own business, or, if you are simply interested in finding out more about starting your own business, Advantage NI wants to hear from you. Advantage NI provides start up support and guidance specifically for young people aged 16-30 through a suite of programmes including Business Boot Camp, Ignite, The Big Idea and The Advantage Young Business Awards and what’s more, they’re all free. TOTS MAGAZINE FEATURE

Toddler Soccer – a winning idea for little dribblers

Dribbling is something most toddlers can do in style – but it’s usually down the front of their t-shirt when they are eating a bowl of spaghetti! But now thanks to a fantastic, innovative idea by a dedicated local football coach, your toddler can be an expert at dribbling - passing, tackling and even scoring goals!

ToddlerSoccer.Org is the brainchild of Tim Wareing. Tim’s love of football goes right back to his own childhood and has led him to a very successful career in the game. He holds his UEFA European A licence and has over 10 years of coaching experience. He has held many roles throughout the local game, his latest being with Irish Premier League side, Lisburn Distillery where he implemented a very successful academy.

It was through his time working with older children that Tim realised there was potential to bring aspects of the game to very young children. “Parents used to bring their little toddlers along to games to watch their older brother's and sister's train and they seemed to really love it. You could see how interested they were and how they wanted to be involved,” explained Tim. “I also felt that toddlers in Northern Ireland have not got a great range of organised, fun, sporting activities. That is why TWSports.Org launched ToddlerSoccer.Org.

We now offer a varied programme of coaching and games aimed at children from the age of two and a half.”   Although there is some structure to the training sessions, which are all carried out by fully qualified and experienced trainers, the emphasis is definitely on fun: “We didn’t want to be strict or bossy with younger children – we really just wanted to create an atmosphere where they could feel free to enjoy themselves. Mum or dad stay for the session (which lasts 45 minutes) so are always there in the background it they feel they want a little bit of help. We encourage the children to do things without mum or dad, but always include some fun time with them too.”

Believe it or not, Tim and his team of coaches have actually succeeded in developing some of the basic, essential footballing skills in these tiny tots: “It’s all about how you communicate with them. We really get down to their level – which means the coaches have to lose any inhibitions too! You should be a fly on the wall at one of our training sessions for the coaches! A room full of grown men all running about pretending to be Roary the Racing Car!

“We really get the children to use their imaginations and use popular characters like Roary to really get them motivated,” enthused Tim. “I have spent a couple of years developing the programme and tweaking with it to offer toddlers the best in fun, development and to encourage them to be creative. We encourage our coaches to throw out the coaching manual and become entertainers during each session!

It is fantastic; we have two year olds performing drag-backs and step-overs but we dress it up to help toddlers understand, perform and more importantly have fun! In a way we have thrown away the boring mould and had some fun ourselves.” By getting the children to imagine they are ‘walking the dog’ or being Roary racing through the cones, or even a cheeky monkey swinging through the jungle, they can teach children about how to control the ball – and learn coordination without them even realising!

“We do let them have a go at kicking the ball into the goal too – but rather than being competitive, throw in a couple of balls so everyone gets a chance - so there may be four or five balls on the go at the one time,” added Tim. “At the end of the session we will have a fun mini soccer match, which the kids just love. It is a great way to teach them about teamwork. It’s also great preparation for nursery school as they learn how to play and be active with other children.

Although we are developing their football skills, it is about much more than that. It helps to develop their coordination, their balance, their social skills and of course, their confidence.”

The sessions have proved as popular with girls as they have with boys and parents needn’t worry – they don’t need to be budding Beckham's or Healy's themselves! Toddler soccer is open to children of any ability aged two and a half to five, with sessions all over Northern Ireland.

It is without doubt one of the most innovative and exciting toddler activities available at present.

Tim, soon to be a dad for the third time himself, has not only attracted interest from people throughout Northern Ireland, he has had interest from all over the UK, Holland, USA and Canada: “It’s been pretty cool. I received an email from a lady in Canada wanting me to produce a Toddler Soccer programme for children in her region! Within an hour of contact she registered to my online coaching resource website, TrainingSoccer.Org.

On a recent trip to Holland I visited Ajax, PSV Eindhoven and some top amateur clubs. One coach in particular was very interested in the whole concept and spoke with me during one of our organised club seminars.”

Tim’s passion for sport is obvious and his desire to share his knowledge and skills with little stars of the future has surely added to Toddler Soccer’s success.

Toddler Soccer is also a great way to get your toddler active which is something Tim is very passionate about: “It’s so easy just to sit down in front of the TV with your kids – but it can be just as easy to get them up and doing something active.”

Tim will be guest writing a special TOTS fitness column in each following edition, giving advice and fun ideas on how to keep your little one fit and active.

Toddler Soccer offers weekly sessions in centres across Northern Ireland, including Belvoir Activity Centre, Cregagh Community Centre, Eddie Irvine’s Bangor and new classes in Portglenone & Lurgan to name but a few.

TODDLERS NOT ALLOWED TO DRIBBLE!

Councils are stopping the province's next generation of footballers to kick a ball!

Popular Toddler Soccer classes run by UEFA A Licence coach Tim Wareing are being put under threat through by Council's new pricing structures.

Council's are now introducing a commercial rate for outside skilled coaches to organise a structured coaching programme. Not only are the rates more than doubled for a basic hall but they are charging each toddler that participates in the class a further £2!

So before any coaches start coaching, a class of 32 toddlers have to pay local councils £100 for 45 minutes use of a hall. For a 6 week course the council will ask for a staggering £600 from the group!

In a day & age when child obesity is at a record high Council's are doing nothing to encourage children to get active & support local groups. Instead they are lining their own pockets with tax payers money.

Tim Wareing commented, 'I run a highly successful programme that brings children together. Toddler Soccer is a new concept in Northern Ireland that I introduced in November 2006. It has been well received & I currently operate 14 successful centres throughout the province. We have over 300 toddlers playing & getting active on a weekly basis. We also have waiting lists at 3 of the centres so have looked at developing the programme.'

Mr Wareing continued, 'A resident from the Shankill contacted me to enquire about Toddler Soccer coming to the Shankill & Ballysillan Leisure Centres. I informed them that my ethos is to offer this provision to as many people as possible & in as many areas. In fact we open a new class in Craigavon in 2 weeks. After receiving interest from 50 toddlers I set out to secure bookings in the Centres. After booking forms had been completed it was then highlighted by the Ballysillan Centre Manager of the problem pricing structure.'

'We limit the classes to 25-32 toddlers so we don't lose the quality of the class. But even with a full house of 32 toddlers Belfast City Council are asking for £100 a week. That doesn't leave enough money out of parents subscriptions to even pay the coaches not to mention insurance & equipment charges. Obviously as a business I also have a lot more indirect costs to worry about such as advertising, marketing, banking fees & tax. I feel that not only I'm I being discriminated against making a living to support my family but more importantly certain areas & toddlers in Northern Ireland are being denied the provision for football & sport to their children.'

Tim travels to Holland next week for Club visits to Ajax & PSV Eindhoven. He will exchange ideas & methods through the development of children both at community level & at excellence. He has untaken previous projects in the past with trips to some of the top Academy sides in England, Scotland & to Spanish giants, FC Barcelona. 'Clubs are always interested in our situation here in Northern Ireland in how football brings Communities together. I've had a lot of positive feed back from many respected people in the game. They are aware of the position I'm in with local Council's & find the whole thing unbelievable & laughable. But unfortunately in Northern Ireland it is always a case of who you know & who you are.'

'It's frustrating because as a business we don't only run a successful, structured programme but we develop young coaches & provide a number of opportunities for them in the game. My team also provided coaching & small sided games free of charge at the George Best Celebration Day. We catered for over 200 children & spent over £400 to provide a momentum tee shirt for many of the children that day. Another positive & welcome arrival at our toddler classes has been our Buddy Coaches. Members of our U10 & U11 youth teams at Distillery come along to sessions to help develop toddlers skills. It's a real positive programme but Council's & outside bodies don't recognize this.'
